Why you should get a decorator to wallpaper a large room

Having your home decorated is exciting. The fresh and energetic feel a freshly-wallpapered room gives off is great. There are a huge number of patterns and styles you can choose from, such as suede, beads, raised inks and embossed silk textures. So take time to pick the one that fits your room just right. Did you know that lots of wallpapers are washable? You can easily clean them – perfect for your home if you have young children (or messy adults).

When hung correctly, wallpaper can last up to 15 years or more. So for the best job possible, we recommend using a professional decorator. They’ll have wallpapered many large rooms, so can give you an accurate estimate of the time and cost involved. Plus, they can answer any queries you may have about the look and feel of your room. Using a professional can leave you with a room you love and complete peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sand the walls, patch any scratches or holes with filler and then prime the wall.
Create a mixing solution in a bucket using hot water, liquid dish soap and a tablespoon of baking soda. Apply the solution to a large square section of your walls using a sponge. Let it sit for a couple of minutes then wipe it off using a damp rag. For any stubborn areas, use a putty knife. Go slowly and steadily, taking one section at a time. When you're done, air out the room for at least 24 hours.
Create a natural dissolver in a bucket using one-part vinegar, four-parts water. Apply it to the wall with a sponge then use a putty knife to remove any wallpaper and a sponge to remove any glue. When the wall is dry, use a joint compound to fill in any scratches or dents and a drywall compound for any larger damaged areas. When the compound is dry, sand the area down.
