Local Heroes & Master Locksmiths Association
Local Heroes is proud to announce that we have signed an ongoing partnership with the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA), the largest, longest established and most recognised locksmiths association in the UK.
The partnership means that MLA members can join the Local Heroes platform with extra benefits, offering customers even more reassurance that locksmiths have been trained and vetted and are of the highest quality.
“With 60 years of experience vetting and inspecting locksmiths, the MLA really improves the quality of our locksmith offering and we could not be happier to work with the team at the MLA.”
Local Heroes will also consult with the MLA on industry standards. Whilst most trades Local Heroes offers have strict industry standards set by governing bodies – for example all heating engineers must be Gas Safe registered – locksmiths do not have any equivalent government based regulation or even nationally recognised qualifications. Unfortunately, this does mean that some unverified and unqualified locksmiths can operate in the UK.
To minimise the risk of this, the MLA was set up as a not-for-profit organisation to set strict standards of conduct within locksmithing. MLA Approved Companies have been vetted, are regularly inspected to ensure quality of work and use exams to prove the competence of staff. The MLA also provide training to ensure its members remain up to date with the latest industry developments.
Partnering with the MLA and the use of MLA approved companies will give customers extra peace of mind that the locksmiths on our platform will be competent and trustworthy.
Mat Moakes, Director of Local Heroes, commented: “The partnership with MLA means that the locksmith services we offer through MLA approved companies are held to a high standard of work which, when combined with the British Gas Guarantee, gives our customers the highest possible level of quality and assurance.”
Dr Steffan George, Managing Director of the MLA Group, said “we’re delighted that a company like British Gas has seen the importance of using MLA Approved Companies when it comes to locksmithing, and have decided to partner with the MLA to help protect the end user.”
“Checking your Local Hero is an MLA Approved Locksmith is the ideal way of ensuring that your locksmith has met the stringent “vetted, inspected and qualified” criteria laid out by the UK’s leading trade association for locksmiths. Look for the MLA Approved logo.”
Sarwjit Sambhi, Managing Director of UK Home at British Gas, says the partnership is an important step in expanding Local Heroes into new areas.
“Partnerships with authorities such as the MLA ensure Local Heroes can continue to maintain and grow its reputation in trades and industries not traditionally associated with British Gas.”
“We look forward to a successful relationship with the MLA.”
