Infographic - Brits' Winter DIY Confidence
Our recent research has found that less than 10% of the UK population plan to undertake DIY this Winter. Investigating seasonal DIY trends by region, we found that Scottish residents are more likely to undertake DIY in the Winter than any other region, with 17% preferring to do it in the colder season.
Our study also found that UK residents have a strong preference for hiring a tradesperson to carry out home-related tasks. Brits evidently will attempt low-risk DIY during the Winter period, such as sprucing up their home with painting and decorating (17%) and shelf-hanging (24%), though unsurprisingly prefer to leave more complex tasks to the experts.
Mat Moakes, Head of Local Heroes, says of the study, “This study has helped us to understand UK consumers’ seasonal preference for DIY, bringing to light that Summer is the most popular time people will reach for the tools themselves.”
“It's inspiring to see that consumers feel comfortable to tackle a range of DIY jobs in the Summer, such as Painting and Decorating, though understandable that Winter DIY is viewed as more challenging.”
“At Local Heroes, we work hard to ensure there's always a qualified tradesperson available when customers need them most, specifically in the colder months.”
