If you’ve read our list of the top tools for plumbing, then there’s a very good chance you’re wondering where you can go to get your hands on them.

We also compiled a list of places you can buy plumbing supplies. But you might still be struggling to find your local store.

If you prefer to use one of the big name retailers you can use Google or another search engine to find one closest to you – or visit the brand’s homepage and use their store finders. Lots of brands have these tools, so be sure to take advantage. Using them is easy; just pop in your postcode and it will give you a list of stores closest to where you live.

Failing that, or if you prefer to use smaller, independent retailers such as the local hardware shops, you can use search engines or online business directories. The vast majority of these are going to be listed under “hardware stores” but may also be listed as "trade supplies" or "tool shops".

Local, independent shops will have fewer stocks, be sure to call ahead to make sure they have the item you need in stock

Of course, with smaller stores, it’s inevitable that they will have a smaller amount of stock to choose from, so it never hurts to phone ahead to see if they have what you need. If they don’t, they will probably be able to order it in, or will be able to recommend other local stores that are more likely to have that item.

Don’t forget you can always ask friends and neighbours to recommend stores to you. And once you find a good place for your supplies, be sure to pass on the recommendation to others who may be looking.
